Possible Reasons for Slow Internet
- Bandwidth- If you go over your allotted 10 GB bandwidth in any 7-day period, you will receive a bandwidth violation. ResNet cannot return your internet speed to normal in this instance, as the process is automated by UITS.
- Spyware- If you are receiving a great deal of pop-ups or notice some toolbars being added to your web browser, you may have a spyware infection. Such spyware infections may also slow down your internet dramatically.
- Firewalls- 2 or more firewalls installed at the same time will conflict with each other and will either slow the internet dramatically or prevent it from working at all.
- Rogue Device- If someone in your dorm area has plugged their router into the network incorrectly, it may affect your internet connection. If none of the other options seem to be the cause of your slowness, call ResNet to investigate further.
